Weekly Favorites - Chainsaw Award Winners, Stephen King going OFF on twitter, and Midsommar news!

March 03, 2019 by Charlotte Hollingsworth in Weekly Favorites

Alright….I missed last week. But to be honest there wasn’t that much exciting stuff going on any way. SO right now while you’re reading this I am at Fan Expo Vancouver doing all the exciting things. Look forward to seeing that on the site soon!

But for today I’m sharing some of my weekly favorites from the past two weeks.

First up, Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie are bringing their Twins of Evil tour here to Vancouver on August 4th and I got tiiiickets!! I’m so freakin’ excited. I haven’t been to a concert in like ten years because I’m not a big music person. BUT…I do love me those two crazy guys.

Is anyone going? Horror Bound meet up? Let me know!

Twilight-Zone-new-1000-01.jpg

The new trailer for The Twilight Zone remake premiered and holy shit it looks good. It’s only on CBS All Access though which sucks as that means I will not be watching it until it hopefully goes to cable or some other streaming service. THERE’S TOO MANY STREAMING SERVICES.

On April 1st, The Twilight Zone will premier. It stars an amazing cast of characters – Adam Scott, Steven Yeun, Taissa Farmiga, Greg Kinnear, John Cho, Jacob Tremblay and Kumail Nanjiani. Jordan Peele will be the host.

I got full on chills watching this trailer and I’m SO excited. Check out the trailer HERE

The Fangoria Chainsaw Awards were announced! We all voted for our favs out of anger when the Oscars snubbed some of the best performances of the year, just because they were horror. BUT….we’ve been redeemed.

Stephen King went OFF on twitter on Thursday and it made me so proud. In the media, women are almost rarely named, just referred to as the wife or mother or sister to some famous man. Tabitha King was rightly pissed when she saw herself referred to as “and his wife” and so she took over King’s twitter and shared her anger. Tabitha King is an incredible human being and ya’ll need to check yourself before you come for her. She’s written 8 NOVELS and 2 works of non-fiction. She also fights every day to keep literacy alive and well in libraries and schools. Oh, and if that’s not enough, she is the Vice President of a radio station. Tabitha is fucking bad ass.

Lastly, we’ve gotten word that the trailer for Ari Aster’s new flick, Midsommar, drops next Tuesday! This movie has been shrouded in secrecy so I’m super excited to finally get a look at it. Ari Aster of course, brought us Hereditary. The film will premier on August 9th and stars Jack Reynor, Will Poulter, Florence Pugh and William Jackson.

“Pugh and Reynor will play a couple that travels to Sweden to visit their friend’s rural hometown for its fabled mid-summer festival. What begins as an idyllic retreat quickly devolves into an increasingly violent and bizarre competition at the hands of a pagan cult.”
